Wüsthof Classic
The original, trusted for generations
Classic is Wüsthof's best-selling series and the knife many professional chefs learned on. Each blade is precision-forged from a single piece of high-carbon stainless steel, tempered to 58 HRC and sharpened with Wüsthof's PEtec process to a 14° edge per side. A full bolster and full tang give it weight and balance, and the triple-riveted black synthetic handle is built to last for decades.
- Forged from one piece of steel, 58 HRC
- Full bolster and full tang
- Triple-riveted black synthetic handle
Wüsthof Classic Colors
The same Classic knife, in seven kitchen-inspired colors
Classic Colors take the forged Classic blade and set it in a colorful, triple-riveted synthetic handle. Each shade is inspired by an ingredient: Velvet Oyster, Tasty Sumac, Purple Yam, Coral Peach, Wild Blueberry, Pink Himalayan Salt and Fresh Rosemary. Choose one color to make a statement or mix and match to color-code your prep.
- Forged Classic blade, 58 HRC
- Seven ingredient-inspired handle colors
- PEtec edge, 14° per side
Wüsthof Classic Ikon
Classic design, modern luxury
Classic Ikon pairs a forged high-carbon stainless blade with a sleek, contoured handle that fits the hand naturally. Its half bolster lets you sharpen the full length of the edge, and a second bolster at the end of the handle balances the knife. It's a refined, comfortable step up from Classic.
- Forged blade, 58 HRC
- Half bolster plus rear bolster for balance
- Contoured, triple-riveted handle
Wüsthof Gourmet
Lightweight, sharp and great value
Gourmet blades are laser-cut (stamped) rather than forged, so they're lighter and more affordable while still made in Solingen with Wüsthof's PEtec edge. With no bolster, the whole edge is easy to sharpen. The triple-riveted synthetic handle makes Gourmet an easy everyday choice and a smart way to build out a knife block.
- Laser-cut high-carbon stainless steel, 56 HRC
- Lightweight, no bolster
- Triple-riveted synthetic handle
Wüsthof Ikon Blackwood
Forged steel with a handle of African Blackwood
Ikon Blackwood is Wüsthof's showpiece series. The forged high-carbon stainless blade has a half bolster for full-length sharpening, and the ergonomic handle is made from African Blackwood, one of the densest hardwoods in the world, with a rear bolster for balance. Every handle's grain is unique, which makes these knives a beautiful gift.
- Forged blade, 58 HRC
- African Blackwood handle
- Half bolster plus rear bolster
Not sure where to start?
Forged knives like Classic, Classic Ikon and Ikon Blackwood are heavier and more balanced; Gourmet is lighter and easier on the budget. Most cooks begin with an 8-inch chef's knife and a paring knife. Browse every Wüsthof knife and set we carry to find the right fit for your kitchen.
