Shun Premier Blonde 7 Piece Essential Knife Block Set, Paring, Utility, Chef's, Bread, Herb Shears, Steel, Bamboo Block

The Shun Premier Blonde 7-Piece Essential Block Set brings together the essential pieces in one bamboo block: the Premier Blonde 4 in Paring, 6.5 in Utility, 8 in Chef's and 9 in Bread Knife with wide serrations, plus Shun Herb Shears and the Shun 9 in Combination Honing Steel.

The herb shears have a fine 16 degree edge that will not bruise delicate herbs, a notch for stripping leaves or cutting stems, and blades that separate for cleaning. The stainless honing steel has smooth and micro-ribbed sides and a built-in angle guide. The 11-slot bamboo block holds up to nine knives plus the honing steel and shears, so there is room to add more knives.

Set includes:

• Premier Blonde 4 in Paring Knife (TDM0700W)
• Premier Blonde 6.5 in Utility Knife (TDM0701W)
• Premier Blonde 8 in Chef's Knife (TDM0706W)
• Premier Blonde 9 in Bread Knife (TDM0705W)
• Shun Herb Shears (DM7100)
• Shun 9 in Combination Honing Steel (SS0790)
• 11-Slot Bamboo Block (DM0831)

Blades and handles: Every Premier blade has a core of VG-MAX, Shun's proprietary stainless steel, which builds on VG10 with more carbon, chromium and tungsten for strength, wear and corrosion resistance and a very fine edge. It is clad in 68 layers of stainless Damascus, 34 per side, and finished with a hammered tsuchime pattern that reduces drag and helps food release. Edges are hand-sharpened to 16 degrees per side. The contoured blonde PakkaWood handles are hardwood impregnated with resin for moisture resistance and durability.

About Shun: Shun knives are made by Kai in Seki City, Japan, a center of Japanese blade-making since the 13th century; Shun's makers have worked there since 1908.
